Construction Activity Update: York Street Bridge Rehabilitation (Received from Metrolinx)
Good afternoon neighbour,
I’d like to share an update regarding upcoming work on the York Street bridge, which involves some lane closures on York Street.
Four girders on the York Street bridge require repairs. In order to complete these repairs, on December 4th at 5:30 a.m., the median lane in either direction on York Street will be closed between Bremner Boulevard and Station Street for approximately two weeks. This work will be completed around the clock, so as to minimize the duration of the lane closures.
Two full closures of the roadway under the York Street bridge are also required at the beginning and the end of the project, to set up and take down the construction site. These closures will be completed overnight, to mitigate traffic impacts. The first of these two closures will be completed the night of Sunday, December 4th from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Monday, December 5th. Pedestrian access under the bridge will be maintained at all times through the York east and west teamways connecting to Union Station. The second closure will be completed approximately two weeks later; updates will be provided as work progresses.
We recognize that this work can be disruptive to our neighbours and are doing our best to carry out this essential construction with the least disruption possible. Neighbours may notice increased volume of traffic on alternative routes into the downtown core. There may also be some noise associated with the work, including construction vehicles, moving of materials and equipment.
As usual, if you have any questions, please let me know.
