The war on drugs is over. More than 75% of people surveyed believe this war was an absolute failure of society. Whether that is true or not does not change the fact that drugs in our community are still a problem, a very big problem. If addictions are not addressed through incarceration and instead dealt with through social services, addiction centres and injection sites, how can we possibly keep our communities safe? We must find solutions such that our children are not picking up needles in the park. We must find answers for how to deal with this very unpredictable element of our society.
