This past Sunday marked the fourth annual CityPlace Terry Fox Run at Canoe Landing Park. The event was a huge success, raising a best $16,000+ towards progressive cancer research and attracting over 250 participants..
The weather was beautiful and the neighbourhood was out in full force on Sunday morning. As usual, the event started with some energizing morning Yoga lead by Tribe Fitness. The warm-up was followed by a 5km run/walk. Local partners within the community such as Jimmy’s Coffee and Myodetox provided some much needed post-run refreshments and therapy.
Event Organizer, Sal Chaudhry stated, “There is nothing quite like a great-cause bringing the community together. We can’t wait to build on our success next year.”

“This is the second public meeting regarding the City-initiated Official Plan Amendments for the rail corridor between Bathurst Street and Blue Jays Way. The purpose of this meeting is to offer the public the opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback to City staff on the emerging vision and draft Official Plan Amendment. The event will begin with an Open House at 6:00 pm and a presentation at 6:30 pm. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
This City-initiated amendment to the Toronto Official Plan proposes a new planning framework to support a large park over the rail corridor between Bathurst Street and Blue Jays Way (“Rail Deck Park”). The proposed planning framework envisions a vibrant, sustainable, and accessible park for all Torontonians, and will address land use, public realm improvements, connectivity, and servicing, among other matters. The City-initiated amendments will include updates to the Railway Lands West, Central, and East Secondary Plans.
Public consultation is an important part of the planning process for the rail corridor and Rail Deck Park. We look forward to hearing your input on this important city building initiative. You can find more information at the following website: www.toronto.ca/railcorridorstudy”
